This workshop offers an introduction to mathematical cognition in early childhood, with a focus on identifying and understanding learning difficulties. Participants will explore how to distinguish between a developmental delay, logical reasoning challenges, and true numerical difficulties. We will also examine the different types of dyscalculia according to the DSM-5, present screening tools and practical tips to support children, and outline key logical and numerical skills to target in educational or therapeutic contexts. The session will include examples, hands-on activities, and useful resources for both educators and therapists.
