Content:

This program is designed to provide graduates with practical exposure to early intervention practices in a Interdisciplinary setting within a family centered approach. It is based on a practical and skills-based approach to help the graduates learn more about early intervention.

Program Audience

This program is designed to benefit licensed therapists from a variety of specializations, including Psychomotor Therapists- Speech and Language Therapists-Occupational Therapists- Physical Therapists. The program can be undertaken at any time of the year, subject to the center’s availability and capacity for trainees.

Learning objectives

The program enables the participant to:

  • Actively observe and analyze therapy sessions: Trainees will observe sessions across various disciplines (e.g., speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychomotor therapy…) to identify and document key therapeutic techniques, child-therapist interactions, and progress over time.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of evidence-based assessment tools: Trainees will research and understand the theoretical foundations, administration protocols, and scoring methods for a minimum of 1 or 2 common assessment tools used in early intervention.
  • Contribute to case discussions and collaborative planning: Trainees will prepare and present case summaries, share relevant observations, and actively participate in team discussions to help develop holistic intervention plan.
  • Identify the principles of a family-centered approach: Trainees will identify the needs of families, articulate the importance of their involvement in the intervention process, and practice strategies for effective communication and goal setting with families.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate therapeutic sessions: Trainees will be able to write a detailed reflection of an early intervention therapy session, accurately identifying specific strategies used and suggesting potential alternative approaches.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with assessment tools: Trainees will be able to correctly administer and score a common assessment tool under supervision and explain the clinical implications of the results to a team.
  • Collaborate effectively within a Interdisciplinary team: Trainees will demonstrate an ability to communicate professional observations and insights clearly and concisely in a team setting, contributing meaningfully to the child therapy planning.
  • Formulate family-centered intervention goals: Trainees will be able to develop child goals that are aligned with the specific priorities of the child and his family.

 

Modules

Duration: 7 Weeks.
Frequency: 2 days per week (Days will be decided upon the availability of the schedule in the center)
Total Hours: Approximately 40–45 hours (depending on schedule)
Trainees will rotate between different disciplines for structured observation:

  • Concerned Therapy: Observation of at least 20 sessions.
  • Speech and Language Therapy: 5 sessions.
  • Occupational Therapy: 5 sessions.
  • Psychomotor Therapy: 5 sessions.
  • Physical Therapy: 5 sessions.
  • Family Routine Intervention: 2 sessions.
  • Assessment Exposure: Observation of at least 1 or 2 assessment sessions (e.g., Bayley Scales, CSBS, GMFM, feeding assessments, etc.)
  • Team Meetings: Participation in at least 10 Interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Parent Meetings: Attendance at 1 to 2 Parents Meeting or Family Services.
  • Case Reflections: Weekly discussion sessions.

Training Approaches

  • Observation of therapy sessions.
  • Regular meeting with the supervisor of the concerned department to provide mentorship.

Evaluation

  • Pre-test and post-test.

Program information

  • Total Fee: 250 USD.
  • Payment Terms: Payment is not obligatory before the course; trainees can complete registration first.
  • Registration: All applications are completed via the center’s website.
  • Selection criteria: An interview will be done with the training coordinator and the Supervisor of the trainee field before starting the program.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program, each trainee will receive a:

  • Certificate of completion (Stating the total hours completed-Training outcomes).
  • Briefing about the journey of the Trainee presence in the center.
