Content:

Psychoeducational assessments provide valuable insights into children’s cognitive abilities, academic performance, learning processes, and areas of difficulty; however, understanding assessment results and translating them into meaningful educational and therapeutic interventions can be challenging for professionals working with children.

This workshop aims to equip participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to understand psychoeducational assessment reports, interpret key findings, and recognize their implications for children’s learning and everyday functioning. Through practical examples, case studies, and multidisciplinary discussions, participants will explore how assessment findings can inform intervention planning, classroom accommodations, and collaborative support strategies.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the main components of a psychoeducational assessment and understand common psychological and educational terminology.
  • Interpret cognitive, academic, attention, memory, and executive-functioning findings at a basic level.
  • Differentiate between test scores, clinical interpretation, and diagnosis.
  • Recognize how a child’s cognitive profile may influence learning, behavior, communication, and classroom functioning.
  • Apply assessment findings to inform practical educational and therapeutic strategies.
  • Understand the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in supporting children with learning difficulties.

Methodology:

The workshop will adopt an interactive, practice-oriented approach, incorporating:

  • Brief presentations and guided explanations.
  • Practical exercises involving sample assessment results.
